Servicios Quirurgicos del Caribe offers a variety of exams and tests to study and evaluate vascular health and to measure the extent of possible vascular disease. We offer various Doppler exams, abdominal vascular study, venous mapping, and carotid intima-media thickness tests to provide our patients with a thorough diagnosis of their vascular health.

Venous Doppler is an ultrasound exam that uses sound waves to detect potential blood clots or blockages in the upper and lower extremities. This vascular study allows physicians to monitor the patient’s blood flow through veins. We typically use this ultrasound exam to diagnose deep vein thrombosis or blood clots in the legs.
This is an ultrasound exam of the arteries in the arms and legs and can help physicians see plaque buildup in the arteries and other arterial blockages. An arterial Doppler uses high-frequency sound waves to monitor the flow of the blood through the arteries and detect blocked, injured, or bulging arteries. This exam can also be used to monitor the effects of venous or arterial treatments.
Carotid Doppler and Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT)
This vascular exam uses ultrasound to monitor the carotid arteries. A carotid Doppler can help physicians detect blockages caused by plaque build-up in the carotid arteries, which is often a symptom of coronary artery disease. The carotid intima-media thickness test (CIMT) tests the thickness of the intima and media layers of the carotid artery and is used to detect and determine the extent of carotid atherosclerotic vascular disease.
Intracranial Arterial Doppler
Intracranial arterial Doppler exams use non-invasive ultrasound technology to detect potential artery blockages. This exam can help diagnose intracranial arterial stenosis and can potentially detect a stroke before symptoms become apparent.
Abdominal Vascular Study
An abdominal vascular study uses ultrasound technology to monitor the abdominal aorta and vascular health in the abdominal region. This exam can help detect serious conditions like an abdominal aortic aneurysm or hypertension.
Grafts Bypass for Extremities and Carotids Stents
A bypass graft procedure used to treat blocked or narrowed arteries. During this surgical procedure, a piece of a healthy blood vessel from another part of the patient’s body is grafted to a blocked or narrowed artery to bypass the blockage and improve blood flow. A carotid stent is an expandable tube that is placed in a narrowed carotid artery to improve blood flow and reduce the chance of blockage.
This ultrasound procedure is used to create a “map” of a patient’s veins to prepare for various venous procedures. This technique is often used prior to a bypass graft surgery.
